About me
I am a Syrian American artist, graphic designer, writer, and qualified architect. I was born in Damascus, Syria, and lived there until the age of 28, when I relocated to Beirut, Lebanon, to escape the brutal regime and violence that devastated my country. In 2017, I moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, where I am currently based.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the international university for science & technology (2010), and a postgraduate diploma in urban planning and sustainable reconstruction from Lund University (Tahdir for Syria, 2017).
My multidisciplinary practice is rooted in a monochrome visual language, often exploring themes of darkness through intricate black-and-white compositions. While I occasionally experiment with color, I always return to the expressive clarity of black and white.
I work across a wide range of mediums and scales, from large-format drawings and sculptural works to painted objects such as frame drums and skateboards.
In addition to my traditional practice, I have developed a distinct digital style focused on character design and visual storytelling. These digital sketches often explore imagined figures and narratives, blending fantasy with introspection.
My creative interests also include stop motion animation, a medium I continue to experiment with alongside my work in architecture and design. In 2015, my first graphic novel, the cage, was published in Lebanon. Today, my practice reflects a continuous engagement with art, architecture, animation, and storytelling—always informed by both my Syrian roots and my American experience.
